Interpretation

    “Dandelion” in flower language symbolises hope, healing, and resilience. This is an original song customised to the theme of KACB2 R1.    The story revolves around the main character, Khaya, a beastboy student who has a huge imagination. As one of the few beast species attending Kawaakari Academy, he is relentlessly bullied and isolated by his peers due to prejudice and lack of understanding toward his character. During such times of hardship, Khaya relies on dreams and delusions as a coping mechanism to escape. “Dandelion” delves into the feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, and loneliness, capturing the endless cycle of enduring hardships and finding refuge, in a way that will resonate with many listeners who may find this experience relatable.    The song depicts hope and healing as his friends from the “Dream Club” help him through his dark times. Upon witnessing his treatment, the dream club members welcomed him with open arms. Where they would learn of his dreamlike delusions. Instead of being repulsed, they accepted and appreciated him for who he is, and are willing to explore his dreams and imaginations with him as part of the club; In the chorus:「僕たちと探検しよう」which translates to “let’s explore it together” is his friends’ way of telling him he is not alone.    The song guides the listener to have a similar experience as Khaya, in mixing dreams and reality through progressively increased use of synesthetic imagery. For instance, the world Khaya sees is shown to be fantastical, deep-sea and flowery paradise and the lyrics reflect this.「乾いた日々へ別れを告げ夢のサンゴ礁」Which translates to “Say goodbye to the dry days; the coral reef of dreams” describes the moment Khaya escapes his reality described as dry; and enters his dream world. This ties in to the club’s overall focus on dreams.

I’m a regular student in the Dream Club, but! Let’s talk about ‘Khaya’, a beastboy student who has a huge imagination, is bullied and isolated. He uses dreams and delusions as a coping mechanism to escape during times of hardship.What club interests you/represents you?
The “Dream club" that Khaya is invited to.What is your journey in finding where you belong?
Similarly to Khaya, we were mostly recruited by Remi, the creator of the Dream Club. As shown in the song, the Dream Club helps their members through their hardships and creates a place where they belong. We are accepted despite our differences and work together to study and embrace the power behind our dreams.Will you start your own club? If you are already part of an existing club, will you recruit new students? Will you mentor the sprouts?
We’ve joined a newly created club dubbed the “Dream” club. It’s a learning environment that feels more like a permanent sleepover, like a second home to many of us. We definitely recruit new students, but most of the time it’s the club that comes to us first. Remi (human student reaching his hand out to Khaya in the beginning of the MV) has a keen eye for students who would belong here somehow.What are your goals as a club?
Our reality affects our dreams... But could our dreams be used to affect our reality? This is the question the Dream Club seeks to answer. We believe every person has dreams, it's an undeniable source of power for some and a fleeting wish for others. We aim to help each other in the study, seeking and fulfilment of our dreams.We also research the magical interactions between dreams and reality, be it clairvoyance or divination through dreams, healing, or even manifesting our dreams to reality, with potential applications for illusionary magic techniques
